Mapping the Beat: Endsleigh Water, River TamarWatercolour Pencil 59x75cm £395 |
The Artist - Daisy Cooper
Maps provide an opportunity to take our curiosity on a journey. Mine was piqued by site analysis drawings of Stonehenge at architecture school. I became fascinated by the relationship between contours and archaeology; wrinkles on the land, punctuated by ancient life. And overlaying this is a magnetic attraction to water. Those delightful grooves of rivers and islands formed over many lifetimes of running and responding to the sea – just like me. Seeking the spirit of place on vintage OS maps distils the language of the land, inviting you to set out to explore Great Bottom...and beyond… The South West warrants close inspection – delve deeper; uncover its gems and, in the process, develop some wrinkles of your own. I know I am! I’ve exhibited at Cork Street, the Mall Galleries and Exeter Castle, and would be delighted to undertake commissions.
